It can be hard trying to keep Paleo around the holidays, especially at parties. Rather than eating only baby carrots and olives, bring one (or a few!) of these 7 Paleo-Friendly Holiday Appetizers and amaze your friends!
BROCCOLI TOTS! Not much more needs to be said about that. Serve ’em up really cute with a toothpick in each one and perhaps a little dish of homemade Paleo ketchup?
Bring some Latin American flair to the party with these healthy (!) Paleo Beef Empanadas. The dough is made with almond and coconut flours, and the filling is incredibly full of flavor and made with lean ground beef, onion, garlic, tomato paste, and some chopped onions. They are a labor of love, but you will find they are well worth it!
Veggie chips are so FUN and surprisingly easy to make. I recommend investing (only $15) in a basic mandoline to make your chips nice and thin and even (sing that to the tune of (Good King Wenceslass). The chips I make most often are sweet potato (duh), zucchini, plantain, and kale. You can also make beet and butternut squash chips, too!!
When I was a kid, it seemed like Deviled Eggs always made an appearance at any family/holiday gathering. These guys got a healthy makeover, replacing the mayo with avocado. Sprinkle them with paprika to make a red and green party appetizer!
These may be my all-time favorite party appetizer/finger-food. Cute little mushrooms caps (aka baby flavor bombs) filled to the brim with turkey sausage, ripped kale, onion, garlic, and a bit of almond flour for the perfect texture. Leave off the parmesan at the end to make these 100% Paleo (or go ahead and leave it on….if you’re just a little bit naughty.)
These chicken meatballs are easy to dish up to look super festive. Replace the soy sauce in the recipe with coconut aminos to make it Paleo-compliant. Serve with lime wedges and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bring a platter of Cuban sopes to the party, and you can be sure no one else will be bringing the same dish. These Cuban appetizers are inspired by our favorite restaurant in Chicago – fried plantain discs topped with mouth-watering Turkey Picadillo!
