If there is a medical term for NEEDING to have something sweet after every meal, then consider me diagnosed. It’s a very real ailment. And also a really tasty one. But in an effort to keep myself from eating a metric ton of chocolate after dinner, I knew I had to come up with an alternative. It was then, friendos, that the Kefir Sorbet was born. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE having this for dessert because it a. satisfies my sweet tooth and b. is so good in helping with digestion (hellooooo probiotics!).
Not familiar with kefir? Allow me to explain: kefir is a fermented milk product (stay with me) which resembles thin yogurt. The flavor is slightly tangy, a little sharp. The fermenting, or culturing process, results in tons of healthy bacteria and probiotics which are FANTASTIC for gut health/digestion. For years, I’ve been adding kefir to my smoothies, and will sometimes even mix it in with a bowl of yogurt and fruit. When you blend it with frozen fruit, the kefir gives it a super creamy texture, very much like….you guessed it – sorbet.
